I'm hiring a freelance video editor for my YouTube channel, The Piano Prof.
My name is Kate Boyd. I’m a classical pianist: I teach at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, and I also have an active performing career.
On YouTube I teach classical pianists at the intermediate through advanced levels. My audience consists of pre-college and collegiate-level piano students, adult learners, and their teachers.

🎹 The role:
- You will edit long-form YouTube videos, using audio and video files that I provide you.
- You will create lower thirds, on-screen text and graphics, as well as use music scores (that I provide) as graphics on screen as needed.
- Videos are between 12 and 25 minutes - usually around 15-18 minutes.
- We will be publishing one video a week.
- This is a remote position. I live in Indianapolis, Indiana (USA), so if you are local we would be able to meet occasionally as needed. ☕
- This is a freelance position and the pay will be a flat fee per video, with the amount depending on experience.
📽️ My setup and workflow:
- I use an acoustic (not electronic) piano.
- I film at the piano using a Lumix G7 as my “talking head” camera from the side.
- Depending on the topic, I sometimes also film the keyboard from overhead using an iPhone mounted on a ceiling bracket.
- I use three microphones: a Rode shotgun mic for speaking and two AT diaphragm mics inside the piano. The three mics run into a Zoom F6 field recorder.
- I upload all footage, my script or outline, and any relevant b-roll to a shared Google Drive folder.
- We’ll use Frame.io for feedback.
